LPG Price Increase Delayed

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Pertamina (Persero) prompted the government to review the prices of LPG Industry (50kg). For that, again delaying the price increase Pertamina LPG industry in the packaging tube 50 kg which was originally planned to be implemented this weekend.

This was conveyed by Vice President of Corporate Communications PT Pertamina Mochamad Harun, Thursday (07/07/2011), in a press release, in Jakarta.

Previously, Pertamina plans to increase the selling price of LPG for about 10 percent of the industry. With the rising price of LPG industry, Pertamina wants to share the burden with the industry so that Pertamina can meet the increased demand for LPG in accordance with industry developments.

"Thus, Pertamina and industry together contributed to the growth of national economy," said Aaron.

Pertamina LPG selling prices for industry (50kg) today, which is Rp 7355 per kg, still below the market price has more than Rp 9,000. The difference in selling price was far borne Pertamina Pertamina, causing reduced income up to Rp 3.2 trillion in 2010.

In the first quarter of 2011, non-subsidized LPG business, Pertamina has donated a number of Rp1 trillion loss. If the price was maintained as at present, the possibility of losses due to non-PSO LPG business which includes 12 kg, 50 kg and bulk to the industry is estimated at Rp 3, 6 trillion.

"This condition is not healthy because as a corporation Pertamina is obligated to make a profit," said Aaron. With current prices, Pertamina can not increase the sales volume of LPG industry because the greater volume of LPG sales, the more profits are eroded Pertamina.

Yet on the other hand Pertamina wants to support the development of industries that have an impact on national economic growth by supplying LPG in accordance with demand growth.
