BI: 500 Fuel Price Increases, Inflation Up 1%

Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) said rising prices of fuel oil (BBM) of premium amounting to Rp 500/liter will donate up to 1% inflation. However, if the only restrictions on the use of these government-subsidized fuel inflation, which then donated just under 1%.

This was stated by the Governor of BI Nasution in between meetings with the National House Budget in the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (05/07/2011).

"If gasoline rises to $ 500/liter inflation up 1%. If only restrictions on the use of fuel subsidies then under it (1%)," said Nasution.

Nasution said, the central bank projected inflation in 2011 by 5% if there is no increase in fuel prices. According to him, inflationary pressures in the third quarter of 2011 will be higher.

"This year up to June 2011 annual figures yesterday (YoY) was magnitude 5.54%. But year to date or from December 31, 2010 to June 30, 2011, reached 1.06% during the first 6 months," he said.

"It is true that our inflation since the third and fourth quarter will rise. Especially the food and spices because the drought came," added the former Director General of Taxes.

Therefore, continued Darmin overall inflation rate will not exceed 5%.

"Inflation at the end of the year was only 5%," said Nasution.
