JAKARTA. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR), Darwin Zahedy Saleh said the increase in Indonesia Crude Price (ICP) in December 2010 which has penetrated a number of U.S. $ 91.37 per barrel, it will not affect the plan of arrangement subsidized fuel.

According to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, high world oil prices actually strengthens the argument subsidized fuel regulatory policy, because of higher world oil prices will burden the state budget subsidies will be even greater, and it should be limited.

Minister explained that the Government will follow up the meeting with Commission VII of DPR that is doing additional study on the socio-economic impacts, tighten supervision scheme and readiness operations / technical in subsidized fuel settings that will be implemented from April 2011.

"Those who can, should buy pertamax, instead of joining in receiving subsidies from the state budget was limited, as long as these subsidies cause distortions," said the Minister.

Subsidies will basically still be given, but the price subsidy will gradually be converted into subsidy to the public. "That's for pro-people programs, establishing schools, hospitals and so forth,"continued the Minister.
