JAKARTA: PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) involved in the project Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) worth U.S. $ 450 million that will begin in early 2011 quarter.

Antam Corporate Secretary Bimo Budi Satriyo explain that engagement stipulated in the contract signing EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) associated with construction projects located in Tayan Tayan, the district, West Kalimantan.

As for who was involved in the project is PT Indonesia Chemical Alumina (ICA) with unincorporated consortium of PT Wijaya Karya Tbk, Tsukishima Kikai Co. Ltd., and PT Nusantara Energi Abadi (Nusea) as the EPC contractor Tayan project.

ICA is a joint venture with Showa Denko KK Antam (SDK) of Japan. On the Antam joint venture company owned 80%, while the remainder is owned SDK.

"Construction Tayan project is expected to begin work on I/2011 quarter with a target completion by the end of 2013. For commercial production could begin in the quarter I/2014," Ben said yesterday.

According to him, Tayan project will produce 300,000 tonnes of bauxite per year CGA. For the production output of 200,000 tonnes of CGA will use the SDK as a substitute for CGA and the output of his factory in Yokohama, Japan. Meanwhile, CGA 100 000 tons will be sold to the Indonesian market.

Ben said Tayan project worth around U.S. $ 450 million was the source of funding comes from external and internal. However, he was reluctant to spell out the composition and magnitude of these funding sources.

"The effective date of the EPC contract depends on several factors, among which is the completion of financial close."

Antam's development director said that for the opening of Tattoos Miraza Tapunopaka mine which has an area of 6213 hectares of Rp75 billion needed funds.

Tapunopaka nickel mining operation will strengthen Antam's nickel operations that currently include Pomalaa Gee and Buli mines and three processing plants located in Pomalaa ferronickel, Southeast Sulawesi.
