JAKARTA: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) plans to fund a number of large projects in the field of public infrastructure in the country with a total loan value of more than U.S. $ 2. billion for the period 2011-2013 the project.

ADB Senior Country Specialist Sharad Bhandari said of a number of projects there are four priority infrastructure projects include construction of geothermal power plants and other renewable energy sengan loan allocation of U.S. $ 500 million.

Other projects are infrastructure projects and energy efficiency ikllim changes with loan value of U.S. $ 500 million, including distribution and transmission system that is efficient, road infrastructure projects amounting to U.S. $ 500 million and sanitation infrastructure projects amounting sengan loan value of U.S. $ 500 million.


He added that these loans will be channeled through a Multi-Stage Financing Facility (multi-tranche financing facility / MFF) in which the loan is given in stages over a period of time.

"At least four major projects are planned to be financed by ADB loans with a total value of U.S. $ 2,000," he told Business Today.

In addition, he continued ADB also helped the development of rural infrastructure and sanitation infrastructure development through a national program of capital investment (PNPM) for U.S. $ 100 million this year.

He added that the plan allocation of funds for the program in 2012 will be increased to U.S. $ 170 million following the strengthening of the potential for infrastructure financing through the PNPM Mandiri in the rural sector.

"We will continue to encourage the development of infrastructure in rural areas, we continue to monitor and do not close the possibility of increasing the budget allocation," he said.

Sharad tells ADB loan to the Indonesian government for infrastructure funding is planned for U.S. $ 880 million annually for the period 2011-2013, most of the loans used to finance infrastructure projects namely roads, energy, clean water and sanitation.

"In addition to a number of projects which have received funding allocations, in 2013, the ADB plans to provide loan programs for infrastructure development related policies for the Indonesian government," he said.
 
He said that currently there are about 10 projects of the ADB loan for infrastructure development in energy, roads, clean water, sanitation including supporting infrastructure development in urban and rural areas.

It could not provide details on the financing of 10 projects because it is still in the stage of recording.

"Loans for 10 projects was channeled through the government, the details of the loan amount can not we convey because it is still in the stage of recording," he said.

Meanwhile, the related general constraints faced by investors in infrastructure development in Indonesia, he continued the biggest obstacle still in the case of land acquisition, which also happen to projects funded by ADB.

However, his side will continue to urge the Indonesian government in overcoming these problems.

"ADB is currently assisting the government of Indonesia in the preparation of Land Acquisition Bill which is expected to overcome one of the main obstacles of infrastructure development in Indonesia," he said. (Parachute)
