JAKARTA: PT State Electricity Company (PLN) handed over entirely to the government policy in the electricity sector, including plans to increase the electricity basic tariff (TDL) of 15% in early 2011.

Director of Business and Risk Management PLN Murtaqi Shamsuddin said basically the power company red plates are just following whatever the government policy, especially about the cost of supplying goods (BPP), tariffs, subsidies and the quantities of electricity.

"PLN is not in a position to give any comments about the plan that TDL aggrandizement [2011]. Whatever it is, we follow government policy, "he said, today.

However, according Murtaqi, policies regarding CPP, subsidies, and the electricity tariff indeed influence each other.

"It's between the BPP, tariffs, and subsidies are interrelated and influence. Still, all three exist in the domain of government policy, "he said.

He explains the power of BPP is very dependent on the composition of primary energy of electricity, gas supply mainly determined by the government.

According to him, CPP can be suppressed if the electricity supply of gas for electricity generation are met. In fact, electricity subsidies could also be lowered by pressing the BPP. (Jha)
