MEDAN - PT Pelindo I Dumai branch established a cooperation with local management of INSA in handling tugboats and scout ships at the special terminal of Dumai Port. General Manager Pelindo I Zainul Bahri confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Medan today between the management of Dumai Port and INSA Dumai. “We are eager to upgrade the service level at the port. So far, tugboats in operation are only five units and 20 employees are hired for them. It’s still lack of equipment and labor, so the cooperation with INSA of Dumai branch is indeed necessary,” he explained in Medan today. According to him, for next three months after MoU signing, it will be followed up by operational cooperation. Service in Dumai Post has to be improved following the increasing number of ship visits in Dumai. Meanwhile, the Chairman of INSA Dumai Badaruzzaman Toesha added that the cooperation is aimed at increasing the port's service level. “Honestly, our service is far from adequate. INSA in that case feels responsible for improving the service level,” he said. He exemplified that the waiting time for ship in Dumai Port used to take weeks but now it can be reduced into day count. by: Master Sihotang www.bisnis.com
