JAKARTA - The average production of oil company PT Pertamina EP in semester I/2010 reached 130 457 barrels per day, higher than the target of 128 000 barrels, triggered by increased production, especially from the Field Rantau, Aceh, and Bunyu Field, East Kalimantan.

President Director of Pertamina EP Salis S. Aprilian revealed increased oil production at the beginning of the semester this year in line with efforts to sustain production growth.

"Oil production in July 2010 was carrying 135 681 barrels per day or 7681 barrels above the target. Achieving Pertamina EP has strengthened optimism for achieving the target given," he said in a press statement today.

He explained a number of production optimization strategy of the company, among others, done through the implementation of drilling on the focus areas, carrying out operations with zero discharge of water management, and conduct fract kepasiran pack to fix the problem.

Also increase the frequency of the production pipeline maintenance, change the way oil removal or lifting, increase the reactivation of old wells at existing fields, and the optimization and replacement of production facilities.

According to him, with the production achievement in semester I/2010 affect Pertamina EP profits before tax amounted to Rp11, 5 trillion, or 52.3% of 2010 profit target of Rp22 trillion.

Some field Pertamina EP that managed to increase production in semester I/2010, among others, Rantau, Aceh from 2200 to May 2010 to 4400 barrels per day.

Furthermore, production Bunyu Field, East Kalimantan also increased fourfold from an average of 1400 to April 2010 amounted to 6.4 thousand barrels per day.

According to him, the rate of production in mid-June 2010 had even touched the 140 000 barrels per day, although only one day.

"Meanwhile, gas production in the first half of 2010 reached 1050 MMscfd [million standard cubic feet per day] or lower than the 1096 target MMscfd."

Salis said the main problem which is still a constraint to increase production is the high natural production decline that is 18% per year.

However, he said, on July 17, 2010 through BP Migas government has given Pertamina EP awards for his achievements with his best performance to increase production of oil and gas for five consecutive years.
