JAKARTA. To complete the drilling activities and improve the production performance of five (5) CBM wells in the Working Area Rambutan situated in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra Province, the National Research and Development (R & D) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed an agreement with the study Bersamma PT Medco E & P Indonesia.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding of Cooperation Research Activities, Development, and Technology Services in the Fields of Coal Bed Methane (Joint Study), between the two parties held in Jakarta on Thursday (22 / 7) ago. Penadatanganan is Head of Research and Development of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bambang Dwiyanto with President Director of PT Medco E & P Indonesia Budi Basuki.

The signing of this Joint Study will include various activities including the evaluation and determination of technical parameters and the potential CBM reserves in Rambutan, the model determines the operating economics of CBM concession in Indonesia, as well as research cooperation and technology services in the development of CBM.

Development of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) in Indonesia is the Indonesian Government policy that has been issued through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as a breakthrough for the declining number of producing oil and gas and as the company's national oil and gas company PT Medco E & P Indonesia as fully supporting the policy.

CBM has a multi-use among others can be sold directly as natural gas, and energy used as industrial raw materials. CBM exploitation will not change the quality of the coal matrix, but instead profitable coal miners, due to methane gas has been utilized so that the layer betubara be safe to be mined.
