Page 1 of 2 JAKARTA: The National Energy Board as soon finalize a new national energy policy formulation at the end of this year 2010-2025, to replace the previous policy direction set out in the presidential regulation No.5/2006.
DEN Daily Chairman Darwin Zahedy Saleh said the national policy direction will be determined through a legal product that is stronger with the House, compared with the previous president who uses the rules. "Product of national energy policy direction the law will be stronger because it will be adjusted along with the House. We hope this statement to be completed and submitted to Parliament by the end of the year," he said after directing members to meet Vice President Boediono DEN, today. In the draft national energy policy that is mentioned if the energy mix will be altered, mainly to suppress the use of oil fuel (BBM). The portion of fuel usage in the national energy mix is targeted at 2025 decreased to 20% compared to the policy direction set out in Presidential Decree No.5/2006 which was set 50%. The gas energy usage was pegged to 27% in 2025 compared to the previous policy direction set at 26% in 2006. The portion of the coal usage will also be increased from 15% to 30%. "In 2025, DEN also recommends the use of energy for 17% of national energy renewal," explained Darwin who is also Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. In addition, the council, which consists of the government, parliament, academics and consumer representatives will also formulate a national energy general plan (RUEN) with a term of five annual follow-up of energy policy. Darwin said that the current developed countries is working to reduce the use of fuel oil because it is associated with a subsidy. Indonesia is also doing it, including limiting use of subsidized fuel. Alternatively, he said, Indonesia must speed up the use of renewable energy. However, the use of these renewable energy incentives and disincentives need special because it is still functioning as a substitution. "It should be that renewable energy is a necessity, but now it has not happened. Renewable energy only interested in world oil prices so high, when oil fell renewable energy left. This is going to find the solution in the national energy policy," he explained.
