JAKARTA: The House of Representatives Commission VII (DPR) to approve option one as the mechanism for the increase in basic electricity tariff (TDL) from July 2010. That means, customers empowered 450 volt amperes (VA) -900 VA will not be charged the new rate increases.

In a working meeting, the parliament also approved a government proposal to raise the TDL for household customers with the power of 1300 VA-5500 VA at 18%, social subscribers in 1300 to 200,000 at 10% VA, 1300-5500 VA business customers by 16%, and 200 kVA business above 12%.

While industrial customers with power 1.300VA VA-approved 2200 rose 6%, power industry between 2200 VA-VA 200 000 9%, above industry VA 200 000 15%, government customers between 1300 VA-5500 VA 15%, and the government over 200 000 VA at 18%.

In addition, the tariff for railway traction over 200 000 VA power rose 9%, rainfall for the apartment above the VA 200 000 15%, and rates for parties and events multipurpose exhibition rose 20%.

Member of Commission VII of the F-PDIP faction Ismayatun saying basically does not want to obstruct the desire of other factions about the increase in TDL. Only, he argued, the government together with PLN seharunya think of efficiency initiatives to overcome the burden of the company.

Minister of Energy Darwin Zahedy Saleh expressed his ministry agreed with the House of Representatives to exercise its option an increase in the TDL. Director General of Electricity and Energy Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Jacobus Purwono expressed with one option to increase the implementation of TDL that the increase for other groups between 6% -18% in accordance with equitable principles.
