JAKARTA. Government to improve the investment climate development of Coal Bed Methane (CBM), making it more attractive among investors to invest. Various regulatory device to be repaired and adjusted, and related issues to be resolved immediately so that CBM can be used immediately.

In a business forum meeting between Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources with CBM business some time ago, revealed the existence of problems impeding the development of CBM, the problem according to Minister of Energy, among others, overlapping land, the licensing process and related legal instruments of the environment, said Minister in his speech at the opening IndoCBM 2010 event in Jakarta yesterday (28 / 4).

Added Minister of Energy, the government fully supports the development of CBM, therefore, he continued, the government as soon as possible to overcome all the obstacles that exist and to provide more certainty to the investors. "The Government welcomes and is willing to listen and follow up on recommendations and input from industry in order to improve policies to help ensure the development of CBM can be attractive to investors."

Indonesia is one of the world's largest CBM potential owners. Resource potential of Coal Bed Methane (CBM), which owned approximately 450 Trillion Cubic Feet (TCF) spread in eleven areas of the basin (basin) coal at various locations in Indonesia, both in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Until now, the Indonesian Government has provided a total of 20 CBM Production Contract where seven contracts awarded in 2008 and 13 contracts in the year 2009.

To eleven basin CBM locations mentioned above namely, South Sumatra (183 TCF), Barito (101.6 TCF), Kutei (89.4 TCF) and the Central Sumatra (52.5 TCF) for prospective high category. North Tarakan Basin (17.5 TCF), Berau (8.4 TCF), Ombilin (0.5 TCF), Sand / Asam-Asam (3.0 TCF) and Jatibarang (0.8) has modarate category. Medium basin Sulawesi (2.0 TCF) and Bengkulu (3.6 TCF) Uncategorized low is prospective. [esdm]
