PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk project targeting a geothermal power
plant (PLTP) and Ijen Merapi Sorik which includes the acceleration
program of building 10,000 MW.Director of Medco Energi Darmoyo Doyoatmojo said today the company has been short listed in the prequalification tender such PLTP. Medco Energi will compete with two other companies that participated in the tender PLTP Sorik Merapi, which Chevron and Tata Power. "We just went in the shortlist for the tender stage PLTP Sorik Merapi is still in the prequalification stage," he said yesterday. Darmoyo said besides Sorik Merapi, the company is also targeting PLTP Ijen, East Java. However, he said, for Geothermal Power Plant in East Java, there are still problems associated with the relationship between regional arrangements and PLN. He also said the development of geothermal energy is a bit complicated, there are two stakeholders that must be faced by investors. First, he said, by law, geothermal tenders conducted by the local government, on the other side of PLN stood as the buyer. "In addition, pricing should be done prior to the exploration activities carried out."
