JAKARTA: The government will cut off natural gas exports in the form of LNG from Bontang to Japan began in 2020 and shifted most of the gas to be produced from the region to fuel electricity and other domestic needs.
Based on the balance of gases that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued for the period 2010-2025, from the Bontang gas stated in the signed contractual or its GSA will end in 2017 with the trend of sending out 2699 MMSCFD in 2010 to only 382 MMSCFD in 2017.

Volume of gas that is still in the stage of commitment Hoa deal, the MoU, MoA, and negotiations began in 2011 and 2020 will also come down from 465 MMSCFD to 310 MMSCFD.

With that plan, gas exports will be reduced and diverted to supply domestic needs. Greatest fulfillment efforts allocated to electricity increased from under 100 MMSCFD to an average of over 600 MMSCFD which began in 2011.
