Tokyo - Japan is still in front of China as two of the world's largest economy in 2009 but almost lost his position already owned more than 40 years, official data showed on Monday.
Japan noted the value of gross domestic product (GDP) of about 5.1 trillion dollars last year, the government announced the AFP reported.

Meanwhile, China reported last month the country's nominal GDP of about 4.9 trillion dollars for 2009.

But with China is expected to enjoy strong growth again this year, Japan runs the risk of ending the year ranked third world because the country is working to renew laboriously deflation and declining population.

Japanese economy grew 1.1 percent in October-December period compared with the previous quarter, but the contraction of 5.0 percent during 2009, official data said.
