Jakarta - PT PLN (Persero) to schedule routine maintenance one 500/150 kV transformer capacity of 500 MVA on Main Relay Extra High Voltage (GITET) Kembangan, West Jakarta this week.

PLN president director Fahmi Mochtar, in Jakarta on Monday, said it would seek no blackouts occurred during the treatment planned transformer Kembangan lasted one week. Treatment is urgent that the transformer is done.

"This routine maintenance is the potential to cause power outages around 200 MW, however, we will deal with the same relocate the transformer capacity from Mandirancan, Kuningan, West Java to Balaraja, Tangerang, Banten," he said.

According to him, the current transformer Mandirancan was on his way from Tanjung Priok to Balaraja and planned to begin operating December 16, 2009.

He added, extinction will occur if the relocation of the transformer Mandirancan not finished, while the maintenance of the transformer Kembangan to do.

Area Manager Regulatory Burden Distribution PLN Jakarta Raya and Tangerang, M Ikhsan Asad, adding it expected to attempt to quit Kembangan transformer maintenance schedule until the completion of the transfer to Balaraja Mandirancan transformer.

"On the other hand, we also will accelerate the removal of the transformer to Mandirancan Balaraja," he said.

According to him, today, from the two transformers, each of 500 MVA capacity in GITET Kembangan, only one is operating. One other transformers were damaged.

"One transformer is still operating is to be maintained to prevent any such incident Cawang," he said.

Ikhsan said the removal of the transformer Mandirancan, with consideration, other than the same type with Balaraja, also load in the area is not too large, while Jakarta has urged the addition of ballast.

Mandirancan transformer will add a transformer which has now been operating in GITET Balaraja and has strengthened Kembangan. One transformer is now in Balaraja comes from Cilegon, Banten.

"With the addition of Mandiracan, then there are two transformers in Balaraja a ready back up Kembangan," he said.

Head of Public Relations PLN, Ario Subijoko, said transformer Mandirancan transfer consists of three parts each weighing 160 tons and carried by separate vehicles.

The journey from the port of Cirebon Mandirancan by road, next to the Tanjung Priok by ship, and headed Balaraja land use.
