Pangkalpinang - PT Timah Tbk owns the largest mining areas in the province of Bangka Belitung.

Of the total area of 532.324 hectares of mine, PT Timah is currently seeking 473.806 hectares or 89.006 percent of the land area of tin mines that already have licenses, said the Head of Mining Department of Mines and Energy of Babylon, Rusbani in Pangkalpinang, Saturday.

Second place is occupied PT Kobatin with 41.680 hectares or 7.830 percent and the area's tin smelting company (smelter) area of 16.844 hectares or 3.164 cent.

According to him, PT Timah has the largest tin mining area because the company is owned by PT Kobatin and the smelter is a private company.

"PT Timah has long operated in the province that has a very large mining area to be explored, while new smelters began to emerge since the exemption rule for the people to mine tin in Babylon," he said. (ANTARANews)
