As a follow-up to the Parliament Decision of Approval Number 21A/DPR RI/I/2009-2010 Questionnaire Results Parliament Committee September 28, 2009 in which one of the commendation is the need for improvements of Law No. 22 year 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas-oriented on national energy security, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held a National Symposium on the theme "Improvement of the Law Number 22 Year 2001 on Oil and Gas in the Context of Natural Resource Management Support for Oil and Gas Which Aims At National Energy Security ". The symposium was held for 2 (two) days, on 9 and August 10, 2010, at Hotel Le Meridien, Jakarta.

The symposium was comprised of four (four) sessions with the distribution of sub-themes, namely the National Energy Security Policy, Organisation and Management Aspects of Business Activities of Oil and Gas, Aspect Financial, Fiscal and Investment in Business Activities of Oil and Gas, and Institutional Aspects On Activities Oil and Gas Business.

At this Symposium, invited speakers who consist of Oil and Gas industry experts, analysts, academicians, businessmen and Gas, and experienced leaders in Oil and Gas industry. To be more comprehensive feedback, participants of this symposium consists of various elements of society, among other relevant Government agencies, the Deputy Commission VI and VII of DPR RI, business areas Oil and Natural Gas well in activities Upstream, Downstream and Supporting Business, Government Oil and Gas Producing Areas, Higher Education, Experts, and Oil and Gas Industry observers from various aspects of scientific disciplines.

The purpose of this National Symposium is held in order to seek the widest possible input from stakeholders (stakeholders) associated with completion of Oil and Gas Law No. 22 Year 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas-oriented national energy security.

The results of this symposium will serve as an input in the discussion of draft legislation for the completion of Law No. 22 Year 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, in accordance with the mandate of the Parliament Decision of the above.
