Strategic Synergy Between Enterprises: PLN and Semen Gresik Group Sign Cooperation Electricity Supply

     Jakarta, 21 / 7 - Today, Wednesday, July 21, 2010, located at 21 Floor, Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, Minister for Enterprise, Mustafa Abubakar, attended the signing of the electricity supply agreement between PT PLN and PT Semen Gresik Group (SGG), which consists of of PT Semen Gresik (SG), PT Semen Padang and PT Semen Tonasa. The signing was done by the Managing Director (CEO) Dahlan Iskan PLN, Semen Gresik president director Dwi Soetjipto, Managing Director Santoso Widodo Semen Padang and Semen Tonasa Managing Director HM Sattar Taba.

     This cooperation, related to the ability of PLN to meet the electricity needs for the three cement plants owned by the company. Strategic synergies between PLN with three large cement plants is a further step of this MOU (Memorandum of Understanding "MOU") which was signed together in July 2009. It is expected that with this partnership, Semen Gresik, Semen Padang and Semen Tonasa can better manage their core business focus to produce cement in support of national development.

     Later, PLN as companies engaged in electricity service provision and will provide service to the concept of B to B (business to business) by providing certain services under Service Level Agreement (SLA) to be mutually agreed. Currently, the installed capacity (existing) at three locations cement factory - Tuban, Padang and Tonasa - approximately 252 MVA. It is estimated that within the next three years, the three cement factories that require additional power of about 187 MVA.

     In cooperation scheme, the supply of electricity for SGG, PLN offer a premium service level (premium service), among which include the guarantee of certainty of grafting, guarantee high availability without incurring Load Curtailment (reduction of expenses in case of power crisis), quality assurance voltage, high reliability and pinalty the reliability of the scheme. Price PLN service offered in this cooperation scheme, approximately 8.9 cen USD / kWh. With the premium service level, then the prices offered by PLN is still cheaper than if SGG building (power plant) itself. This cooperation also proved that electricity can provide excellent service to customers. Services provided by PLN to the SGG will be a model and like PLN intends to use this model to serve other customers.

     Given the strategic synergies between electricity plant with a cement plant is expected to further encourage increased production of cement from SGG with a more focused management. Meanwhile, PLN will ensure the demand for electricity for the three cement factories with a VIP customer class of service levels.
