MEDAN - PT Port, Indonesia (Pelindo) I will make the Port of Singapore as a hub port of Dumai crude palm oil (crude palm oil / CPO) by adding a dock 400 yards away.

President Director of PT Pelindo I Medan Harry Sutanto confirmed it plans to add state-owned docks at Dumai from the already existing 400 meters to 800 meters to make as a hub port of Dumai national palm oil.

"This program is conducted to see an increase palm oil exports from Dumai increased from year to year. Thus Pelindo determined to make a special port of Dumai as CPO," he said in Medan, on this day.

According to him, the funds needed to add a dock 400 yards away reached Rp245 billion from internal funds.

According to him, the construction of the pier in Dumai is urgent because the existing pier 400 meters long vessel is making long waiting time and additional costs for relatively large vessels. By adding a 800-meter quay, he continued, then the big ships could rest their time and fill the CPO can be shortened. If still not well enough, he explained, there are still 200 more yards of land to extend a special dock CPO in Dumai.

He sees the future of Riau Province would be exporting around 7 million tonnes of CPO per year or have been defeated North Sumatra, only 4.5 million tons per year. "Seeing the progress so rapidly that CPO exports from Riau, Pelindo I must prepare the dock early," he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager Branch Dumai Pelindo I Zainul Bahri recognize CPO export via Dumai in 2009 and then as many as 5.6 million tons and in 2010 targeted 5.8 million tonnes. "We just have a pier along the 400 meters and 400 meters will be added from this year," he said in Medan today.

He admitted that the existing special arrangements made to optimize the existing pier 400 yards today, so the ship waiting time lived a day to two days. "Approximately 80 percent of the load flow Dumai Port is CPO (crude palm oil) while the remaining palm oil cake and a bit of cargo goods."

Dumai, he said, will be focused to serve the transportation of CPO and palm oil used as a national hub port.
